Just got an email that at one of our schools in Nairobi we have a Self-Defense class of 466 girls! That has to be a record breaker. So, they divided everyone into 5 classes. That’s 93 girls per class ~ hmm… that’s not a size I want to see. Very very tough conditions – we’re going to need more trainers and we’re going to need more money to pay them.
This October I will be going to Nairobi to take 33 women through the official NMNW TOT Certification process. The good side is that this will enable the Kenyan women to conduct their own 3 week training intensives and certify their own NMNW Instructors.
The bad side is that TOT salaries are larger than the Instructor salary and more instructors mean more salaries. You could say I’m waiting for the grant / funder calvary to show up. Expansion is great – it’s a tightrope you walk between what needs to be done and what you have the funds to accomplish and everytime I arrive at this juncture I hear this quote by Judith of Norwich:
“All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”
